Looking west at downtown Appleton, Wisconsin, ...

August 2009 I woke up in Wisconsin and have been here for the most part since that time. Actually I retired from teaching in June, signed up for my pension, got married and packed up the house and dog and moved to Appleton, WI.

I have not lived in an urban area since the 70′s and my college days. But I have found the transition from NW rural Michigan to living in a neighborhood and a city of 70,000+ people to be very smooth. I will explore this more in future posts.

About the author

I retired a year ago from teaching and then married. Of course that wasn't enough of a life change, so I moved to Wisconsin where my husband Jon works. I wake up every day wondering what interesting things can be explored in the greater Fox Cities area as I settle in to the west side of Lake Michigan. As well, I reflect on my years living in Michigan.
